Tell us about yourself? Being a part of a couple’s big day is such an honour, and I am loving being a marriage celebrant in New Zealand. Fun fact – I am part European and part Malaysian Chinese and can speak Mandarin. I love that ceremonies can incorporate language and cultural traditions that are important to you. Alongside being a celebrant, I am a mum, and a speech and language therapist, working with whānau and educators to support children with their communication skills. I had my own beautiful big day back in 2018 and fell in love with the whole wedding process. This lead me to begin my journey as a registered marriage celebrant. I haven’t looked back! It has been an absolute joy to officiate weddings and I can’t wait to do many more.
Tell us about your style? I have a really relaxed style and think that every ceremony needs the perfect balance of laughter and happy tears. My biggest priority is making sure couples feel comfortable and supported throughout the whole process – from our first coffee catch-up to creating a ceremony that fits them and their story perfectly.
Best part of any ceremony for you? It has to be the first kiss!
Favourite things? My family loves to check out all the toddler-friendly activities in the area, a bonus if it’s outdoors and gives us a bit of exercise. Playing table tennis also runs in the family and we can often be found at the Canterbury table tennis stadium (we are obsessed). My other main love has to be food- when there are new places to eat around the city, we are there with bells on to give it a try.
