Celebrant Ange Davidson works throughout Hurunui, Christchurch, and the Canterbury high country, and is also happy to travel.

A Hurunui local, Ange is an experienced celebrant who loves nothing more than an outdoor wedding in a remote location, be that a beach, rural hill-top or in the high country. Her beautifully crafted ceremonies are personal and fun, serious but light, and delivered with humour and integrity. Ange can help you find a beautiful location or venue away from the city for either a small intimate gathering or a large party. She’d love to talk to you about your wedding or life celebration in either the Hurunui or further afield.

Tell us about yourself? I’ve been a wedding and funeral celebrant for over 17 years and I still get great joy from writing and delivering a beautiful wedding ceremony. A journalist by trade, I love the art of crafting a ceremony that captures who the couple are and exceeds their expectations. By day I work as a freelancer and yoga teacher from my home near Gore Bay, Cheviot. I am a member of New Zealand Celebrants Association, CANZ, and I’m in the process of validating my membership to VCANZ, so I can offer couples a registry wedding in a location of their choice. I have recently trained in funeral celebrancy with the Celebrants Training College. A great course!

Tell us about your style? My style is relaxed but attentive. I feel that I respond well to what’s required during a ceremony as every wedding has its own nuance. I do love humour and will use this to create an atmosphere that helps a couple settle into the ceremony and enjoy the ride.

Best part of any ceremony for you? I love the vows! Everything in the ceremony has bought the couple to this moment where they now commit themselves to each other. It’s exciting, and it can be really emotional.

Favourite things? I’m all about the outdoors and love nothing more than a multi-day walk with good company – and weather. I’m a keen skier, mountain biker and sea swimmer who also loves a great book. I’ve rekindled my love of singing and I’m now a member of The Vocal Collective, a sizeable choir based in Christchurch. My partner and I live in an 1860s farmhouse which is pretty special, if not high maintenance! I am a mother of two young adults and faithful companion to a 15 year old terrier.
