Celebrant Ruth officiates weddings throughout Christchurch and Canterbury, and is happy to travel near and far.
Ruth is a North Canterbury local and lives in Amberley. Her goal as a celebrant is to keep the ceremonies she is involved in modern, relaxed and professional. Ruth likes to bring fun to her ceremonies, and will always strive to make sure the couple is comfortable and at ease.
Tell us about yourself? I was appointed as celebrant appointed in 2019 and I have truly loved the ceremonies I have officiated so far. It is a real privilege to get to know the couple and their story, and then work with them to develop a ceremony that reflects them.
My day job is resource management planning which has me spending lots of time working collaboratively with clients and colleagues, and doing a bit of public speaking…great transferable skills for my celebrant work.
Tell us about your style? I am very relaxed and informal and love to bring humour to my ceremonies. I can also be serious when required of course!
Best part of any ceremony for you? The flood of love and celebration from the couple and guests when the marriage is official.
Favourite things? Enjoying one of our many beautiful North Canterbury beaches or wineries any time of the year, spending time with family, including our various animal family members. To relax I’m happy cooking and listening to the different musical artists my husband is currently playing, or chilling out and watching a great TV show…old fave Breaking Bad, newer faves Ozark and Super Store.
