ChCh Celebrant Krissy Christensen

Celebrant Krissy takes registry ceremonies in Christchurch and personalised weddings throughout Canterbury.

Krissy loves celebrating. She is fun, relaxed, and makes the day all about you. Krissy listens to what you really want and writes your personal story the way you want it told. She enjoys weddings outdoors, in intimate venues, or being with your family and friends where you choose to promise your love. She takes both registry and personal weddings.

Tell us about yourself? I’ve been a celebrant for over 10 years, I love the buzz of meeting new couples and celebrating their unique love story. I have travelled to many countries, and am passionate about learning from different cultures and rituals in life. My day job is a group fitness instructor for the over 70s, (my eldest client being 97 years old). I graduated from the Celebrant School and keep learning with other celebrants, doing workshops. I support hospitals and midwifery clinics in Ethiopia, with the Hamlin Fistula organisation. One of my children has ongoing health issues, and that has involved supporting her this year with a companion service dog that we are in training with.

Tell us about your style? I am very open to your ideas. I am chilled, yet get the job done well. I love to laugh with you, and enjoy the emotion of love. I give you lots of choices to make the ceremony all about you and your love. I enjoy hearing about your support team, and how we can make the day the best it can be. I offer you a chance to read the ceremony before the day, so we work it out together. I love a rehearsal, where we get it sorted.

Best part of any ceremony for you? I love all the ceremony… watching the entrance emotions as you walk towards each other, the parents being proud, and the vows being personal and heartfelt. I love good music and including those who need to be included for you, whether they are there on the day, or not.

Favourite things? My perfect day begins quietly, watching the sunrise, going to the gym, yoga or swimming. I always include others in my day, nestling over a cuppa, with a good heartfelt chat, or out walking on our beautiful beaches, Port Hills or parks. I love nature and reading, (yay for a bookclub when we can read whatever we want), writing and going to the theatre, (fringe, or professional), listening to music, watching dance, or doing it with dance fitness, or watching a movie. My husband and I like to travel to out of way places, even in NZ. I collect birds nests to honor all my friends and family members that have passed on. My family are now adults and I enjoy catch-ups with them.
