Marc Vivequin, a celebrant residing in Tai Tapu, loves to work with couples in rural/urban Canterbury, or anywhere in New Zealand.
Marc is a thoughtful, patient and caring person who takes the rite of passage marriage ceremony to heart. He connects easily with people. His creative spirit fully personalizes a ceremony to truly represent a couple’s values and to ennoble what the marriage means for them. Marc ensures that the process is also light-hearted and fun and he can’t wait to work with you for your wedding.
Tell us about yourself? I’m a young man in my fifties! I am also a professional mechanical engineer and have spent most of my working career in heavy industry, both in New Zealand and in Canada. These are somewhat unusual and puzzling characteristics for a celebrant, and I think that is what makes me unique! I have worked closely with people throughout my career, ranging from those at the coal face to the highest levels of leadership. I connect very easily with people. I am a member of CANZ and have completed a Diploma in Celebrancy, through the Celebrant Training College in NZ. I performed by first marriage ceremony in December 2022 on the lakefront at Glenorchy. It was the best wedding ever! I have a French upbringing and am fully bilingual. If you want to get married in the French language, I can also do that!
Tell us about your style? I am curious and fascinated by the different experiences shared by people. I am also self-critical, intent on learning and always improving. I am light-hearted, relaxed and believe every day is a gift… so I love a good sense of humour.
Best part of any ceremony for you? When the couple getting married first enters the room. At that point, the space is often charged with emotion and anticipation. This feeling affects me greatly and reinforces my commitment to give it everything I have and maintain the very highest standard.
Favourite things? My spouse Wanda. We also have two amazing dogs and a house in the country. This house has been our renovation project for the past six years. I’ve been doing all the carpentry work myself, and we reckon that there’s another six years to go! Fun!
I’m a Tai Tapu man, and will travel anywhere within Canterbury to work with you. I am also open to travel anywhere in NZ, but I find it more effective to work face-to-face rather than zoom meetings.
